A Couple Custom Pieces

The other things I have been working on recently are custom pieces. I recently completed another custom eyeglass chain which will go up today as my first Savannah Renée Etsy shop custom listing! Here is a preview of the item!

Another project I completed recently was actually one for myself! You know, I have to keep something every once in awhile! Actually, this item I made for myself as a sort-of test item. There isn’t anything like this in the Savannah Renée Etsy shop yet, but there should be soon! Introducing my first cocktail ring!

This ring is extra large and extra shiny! Made with an adjustable silver plated ring base and 6mm Swarovski Crystals. I will be keeping this particular ring for myself, but you should expect to see rings in this same style in my shop soon!

An Update

Hey… I Know You!

Hello Everyone! I know I have disappeared for some time, but in a way, that is a good thing! I have been ever so busy making new items, watching style trends, and working on custom orders. It has been a busy couple of weeks!

So what has come out of all of this time I have been away? Well here are some of the new items I have recently added to the Savannah Renée Etsy shop. Simply click on the picture of each item to view full details, additional photographs, and purchase information.

       Along with these exciting new additions to the store, there are a few other items waiting there for your attention! View the entire Savannah Renée collection here! Now, a few notes about the items listed above. First of all, you may notice some new bracelets in the same style as the original Envy bracelet! Due to their growing popularity, I am continuing to make these dazzling charm bracelets. To view all available charm bracelets, follow this link!

Also, I have created an exciting new section in my shop! Anklets! And just in time for summer, too. My favorite is Summer Lady, shown above. The anklet features a selection of glass leaves, Peridot Swarovski Crystals, and one tiny little red ladybug! I think she is just darling! The other anklets shown above are Sea Breeze (in blue) and Serene Sands (in pink). You can view the entire anklet section of my shop here! More anklets will be coming soon, and perhaps even a post all about anklets!

Other items you will find above are Isla, inspired by the necklace Story and the bracelet Madison’s Net, and Rule Number 76 earrings in pink after the original earrings in blue. And for a completely new look to the store, see Calypso –a one of a kind necklace with a lot of personality!

As far as the style trends I have been watching recently, I am especially intrigued by the amount of bows making there way into couture jewelry and onto the red carpet. Check back soon for an examination of this trend here on the blog and keep an eye on my store for some more bows. 

In other news, I’m considering a move to Virginia… or perhaps Seattle? Maybe NYC? Or maybe I’ll soon be shipping orders out from Edinburgh! 🙂 We’ll see! Still looking for my very own Shiba Inu as well, and I can’t wait to meet her and bring her home!

Hello, Old Friends…

Yes, I’m Still Here

I have just been super busy. I apologize. 

However, you may be interested in the variety of things that made me so busy! Well, for starters, I just sent out a package to one of my favorite customers the other day, which was very exciting. AND, being that she was the first customer for my sale, I got to make her a pair of earrings as a free gift! I must say, when I was done with them, I wanted to keep them for myself!

   

 

 

 

What else have I been working on? Well, I was going to wait until the pictures were taken to announce this, but I’m very excited and can’t wait! Since both the ever-so-popular Envy bracelet sold, followed by its sister – Desire – this past weekend, I have decided to create a whole line of bracelets in that same charm bracelet style! They will be in the Etsy shop very soon, maybe even today!

And I have even more news… soon I will be unveiling a new website! I’m currently in the beginning of design stages, but I will be sure to let you know as soon as it is up and running. I will still be using both WordPress and the Savannah Renée shop on Etsy, but I’m hoping the new website will provide:

• A more detailed profile on the Savannah Renée jewelry line
• An extensive gallery of every item, both sold and available, including custom pieces
• Easy access to this WordPress for updates, the Savannah Renée Etsy Shop for happy shopping, and an opportunity to join the mailing list so you are never out of the loop on a sale or new collection

So be sure to check back often for more news about the new website!

And in other news, though unrelated to jewelry, Savannah Renée will *hopefully* soon be getting a puppy. Yes, after years of fighting the urge, I have decided that it is just about time for me to have my own canine companion so I can stop borrowing those of my friends and family. And after five years of debating breeds and sizes, I think I have finally narrowed down my search to the Shiba Inu. After holding and playing with perhaps the softest, sweetest puppy ever, interacting with adults of the breed, watching endless videos on youtube, reading every website and testimonial I come across… I just can’t seem to tear myself away from the thought of having my very own Shiba. Thoughts?

Now, back to jewelry… I’m off to take pictures!

It’s My Birthday!

Today I am spending my birthday with my wonderful family. Yes, that means today I will be taking a break from the cutting and bending and finishing and creating. Well, maybe. Hehe.

Since I’m in a birthday mood though, I thought I would post a little note about birthday presents. Ah, birthday presents. Fun to give, fun to get, yet sometimes impossible to pick out! I know I have often spent hours searching through the internet and through stores, looking for that perfect item. I have googled “perfect gifts for your best friend” and “birthday presents for grandma,” even “what the heck can I get my mother for her birthday?!” And the thing is, unlike other holidays, birthdays come many times a year and often seem to come out of nowhere, making the whole gift finding process even more difficult!

Well, I’m now here to help out the rest of you who are out there googling gifts and coming up with Cheese of the Month Club and Shower Gel. Not that those aren’t fantastic gifts, I’m just going to offer an alternative. Here it is:

Etsy

Etsy is the perfect place to find a gift for just about anyone. Not that you won’t spend hours searching through various shops, but it won’t be from lack of ideas. Etsy is addictive. But you are sure to find something! 

Need a cute gift for a special little girl? Head over to ClackamasCrochetChic’s Etsy Shop and check out her absolutely adorable crocheted hats. How cute is this?

 

Know someone who loves giraffes as much as I do? Then Betty the Giraffe is perfect! Go to skunkboycreature’s Etsy shop to visit Betty and all of her too-cute creature friends!

I know I always have a hard time shopping for men. But now that I’ve found Etsy, piece of cake! There are a wide variety of excellent handmade gifts for guys, from scarves to cufflinks! And the best part is that there are so many unique items to choose from. Take these steampunk cufflinks from qacreate’s Etsy shop:

 

And I think you all know where you can go to shop for some thoughtfully designed and handcrafted jewelry. 😉

I could go on and on with the suggestions, but I’ll let you see for yourself! Etsy even has a great tool specifically to help you in your search! The Etsy Gift Guides! On the Gift Guides page you will find a variety of ways to search for that perfect handmade gift. The “Featured” section offers great selections from “Under $20” to “Environmentally Friendly.” You can also search by gift recipient. There are gift guides for him, her, mom, dad, teens, and even coworkers!

In conclusion, Etsy is the perfect place to find the perfect gift. After all, nothing is more thoughtful than handmade (even if you didn’t hand-make it yourself)! So head over to Etsy and start your search!

A note…

About working with glass pearls

 

Good morning everyone! I’m sure you have noticed that lately I have been working with a lot of glass pearls and Swarovski crystals. I’ll tell you why: 

Truth is, though glass pearls and Swarovski crystals may be on the more expensive end as far as materials go, there is something truly rewarding about working with quality components. Now, I could go on all day about Swarovski crystals, but I’ll leave that for a different time and focus on why I enjoy making new pieces with glass pearls almost every day.

When you pick up a piece of jewelry, such as a necklace or a pair of earrings, you can tell a lot just by the weight of it. A pearl necklace may look like a nice, solid piece of jewelry on display at a department store, but when you pick it up you can tell immediately what those pearls are made out of. More often than not: plastic. That is one of the reasons I love working with glass pearls. When I finish a necklace, I just love picking it up and feeling the weight of it in my hands. Oh, I can’t even describe how good it feels!

Aside from being a solid alternative to plastic pearls, I have also found that glass pearls tend to be more brilliant than plastic and therefore tend to look closer to the real thing. And, while I will admit that real pearls are infinitely better than glass pearls (who doesn’t agree with that?), working with glass pearls allows me to offer a wide variety of beautiful jewelry at affordable prices. So whether you are looking for a nice pearl necklace for your wedding day, an over-the-top multi stranded piece to stand out, or just some simple, classic earrings, you won’t be limited to poor quality or high prices if you go with glass pearls from my shop!
